Pumpkin Spice, and Everything Nice!
As soon as October hits I make it my mission to incorporate as much pumpkin in my life. I'm talking pumpkin added to my morning oats or smoothie, all the seasonal pumpkin products at Trader Joe's (current favorite is the Pumpkin RxBar), and of course pumpkin ice-cream! So in my pumpkin obsession, I thought, why not use it in my skincare regimen!?
Pumpkin is actually a perfect companion for your skin. It's packed with natural enzymes that can help exfoliate the skin (when applied topically). Pumpkin is also very soothing and hydrating, leaving the skin looking youthful, healthy and plump. The internal benefits of eating pumpkin for your skin are also pretty notable, as we know that antioxidants in the forms of A, C, and E, along with zinc, are excellent beauty-enhancers.
Try this DIY pumpkin “peel” mask and let me know what you think!
The benefits of a pumpkin mask:
- High in Vitamin A (great for acne and skin healing)
- High in Vitamin C (great for skin brightening)
- Helps naturally remove dead skin cells
- Hydrating
What you will need:
- 1/4 cup of organic pumpkin puree. I used a small pumpkin that I cut into slices, removed the seeds and microwaved it for 10 minutes.
- 1/2 tablespoon of raw organic honey (a natural bacteria fighter)
- 1/2 tablespoon of organic non GMO soy milk (helps increase elasticity of your skin)
Directions:
- Mix all the ingredients together
- Apply the mask evenly all over your face, avoiding your eye area.
- Leave on for 15 minutes and then remove with a warm washcloth.
- Follow up with a moisturizer.
*If you have acne or are acne prone you can add a tiny bit of raw apple cider vinegar into the mask.
