Book Review: You Are a Badass
Here I'll review my current "must read." My goal is one book a month, so hold me accountable. You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero was one of the first professional development books I read. Jen has a dry sense of humor and she gets straight to the point, plus she offers easy exercises that you can immediately implement so that you have action items (I love a good checklist!). I first read this book when I was managing a SoulCycle studio and it opened my eyes to leading with confidence.
First, you have to truly BE confident in yourself. How many times have you brushed off a compliment or downsized your great achievements in an effort not to stand out (virtually raising my hand!)? Take notice of your self-talk. Is it positive? Negative? After reading this book I made it my goal to talk to myself like I'd talk to a friend. I'd NEVER tell a friend she was fat, lousy or just flat out incapable...so why do we tell ourselves these lies? The first step to living a more awesome life is to extinguish those self-sabotaging beliefs. Ok, enough from me, do yourself a favor and dive into this book for yourself, then post in the comments your key takeaways.
Get you copy at Amazon or Barnes & Noble or used from a friend after they're finished.
